Introduction:
What is MEP or Message exchange patterns in the Context of WCF

Answer:
MEP or Message exchange patterns in the Context of WCF is a way to define rules of message exchange between service and its clients.

Below are the three types of MEPs:

a)OneWay : In this messages are sent by the client to service and there will be no response from the service.

This is not the default MEP.You need to set this mep by setting IsOneWay property of the OperationContractAttribute to true.

for example

[OperationContract(IsOneWay=true)]

int MyMethod(int a)

b)Request - Response : In this mep a message is sent by the client and a response is sent by the service. And this is the default MEP in WCF because the Default value of IsOneWay Property descrbed above is false

c)Duplex :This is a two way interactive channel between client and the service.Using this service can send undesired message to the client. This is implemented using CallBack Contract property of ServiceContract attribite.
