Introduction:
What is the meaning of REST in the context of web services and why to use it



Answer:

REST means Representational state transfer.REST is a Software Architechture style.

In REST each resources (information) is referenced with a unique global identifier like a URI in HTTP.

A RESTful web service is a simple web service implemented using HTTP and the principles of REST.


You should use RESTful web services in place of SOAP web service when you have following requirement:

 1.A group of resources needs to be manipulated.

 2.Navigation between resources are needed.

 3.High scalability is required.

 4.performance improvement is required by caching web service request results.
